After creating history as the youngest person and first female to win the Reggae Grammy, 19 year old Koffee was quickly scooped up by RCA Records, rjrnewsonline reports.
RCA signed the Toast singer in the U.S., the next step in a process of introducing her music to audiences outside of traditional places including Jamaica and the U.K.
Koffee was originally signed to Columbia U.K.
Koffee’s Grammy victory comes amidst a boom of young women in a genre historically dominated by men.
A number of Jamaican women have seen a boost in streams in the US over the last few years, including Shenseea and HoodCelebrityy.
RCA Records is an American record label owned by Sony Music, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America. It is one of Sony Music’s four flagship labels, alongside RCA’s former long-time rival Columbia Records; also Arista Records, and Epic Records.
