The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee (SVGOC) will launch its Women in Sports Commission during the opening of the National Netball Tournament on Sunday 8th March 2020. This day is of significant importance as it is celebrated as International Women’s Day, a day dedicated all across the globe honouring the achievements of women throughout history. It is a day for women from all different backgrounds and cultures to band together to fight for, empowerment, gender equity and women’s rights.

The Commission which comprises of Chair Suzanna-Marie Leigertwood-Ollivierre and members Vasha Adams, Akiyama Johnson, Suzette Jordan, Jackie Joseph, Geshelle Peters, Natasha Sandy-Stapleton and LaPrise Williams, is tasked with encouraging and supporting the promotion of women in sport at all levels and in all structures with the aim of creating gender equality in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Commission is appealing to women with an interest in sport and all its various aspects to establish contact with any of the aforementioned members. There is room for all.

Together, Vincentian girls and women have another opportunity, through sport, to develop themselves and take their rightful place in Vincentian society.
