Schools across St. Vincent and the Grenadines closed one week earlier than the scheduled Easter break due to growing concerns of global pandemic COVID-19. Schools would have reassembled on Tuesday (Apr. 14) to begin the third and final term of the school year. Instead, the closure has been extended for an additional two weeks.

Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Hon. Luke Browne on Thursday (Apr. 16) informed that the situation would be reviewed on April 21st, 2020 and a proposed date for the resumption of classes will be advanced.

In the meantime, educational sessions for students are being conducted online.

According to Browne, the Ministry of Education is making a thrust towards e-learning, adding that special arrangements are in place for students preparing for external examinations.
