SVG Indian Heritage Foundation Cancels 2020 Activities in Light of COVID-19 Pandemic

Kingstown, St Vincent & the Grenadines April 4th 2020 – Mr. Junior Bacchus, President of the SVG Indian Heritage Foundation and all members express solidarity with all Vincentians at home and in the Diaspora and empathize with all countries around the world including Motherland India that have been affected by the Corona Virus COVID-19 over the past months. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones, those out of jobs and all those feeling the effects of this worldwide situation.

In this regard, the Foundation regrets to inform that its activities as follows will be cancelled:

  1. Annual Re-enactment of Indian Arrival Day and Rally June 1st
  2. Yoga classes in June 2020
  3. Training in Indian cuisine August 2020
  4. Awards Dinner and Cultural Evening October 2020- Indian Heritage Day October 7th

Any inconvenience caused by these cancellations is deeply regretted.

We also advise our Elders that interviews have been postponed and thank all eight (8) of our Elders, Walter Bacchus, Patrick Deane, Theresa Jack, Samuel Deane, Elese Louisa Williams, Sadie Bowman, Winston Bacchus and Noel Soleyn, who have so far completed their stories, which we have shared on YouTube.

The Foundation takes this worldwide situation seriously and implores everyone to be cautious, listen to the Authorities; be responsible and sensitive individually and collectively.

We trust that tests can be done widely and a vaccine be found to curb this deadly virus.
