Farewell to Junior ‘Soca’ Jones

Junior ‘Soca’ Jones will be officially welcomed back to the land of his birth today (Wed. May 20).

Soca, born Brentford Ulric Jones Jr. passed away on Friday May 8, 2020. He had been diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer earlier this year in March.

Soca was deemed the most popular entertainment promoter in New York City and was honored by the Vincentian American Independent Nation Charities Inc. (VINCI) in 2010 for being the longest serving promoter in the diaspora.

There will be a motorcade today in his honour beginning at the Argyle International Airport (cargo area) from 12:30pm. The motorcade will proceed to and through Calliaqua, Junior’s hometown, and then will move on to and Heritage Square and down to Victoria Park. It will then proceed to and conclude at the New Haven Funeral Home in Mesopotamia, where Junior grew up.

The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) and its components wish to extend condolences to the family, close relatives, and friends of the late ‘Soca Jones.’

“We join in solidarity with all other family members, relatives and friends, well-wishers and other organizations that he may have impacted or been involved with, to express gratitude for his outstanding contributions to the entertainment and cultural industry over the years,” the CDC said.
