Soca may be on the radar for Verzuz slash series

Trinidad and Tobago may soon star on the popular Verzuz platform.

Swizz Beatz, who founded Verzuz with Hip Hop producer Timbaland, said last night that he has big plans for T&T, LoopTT reports.

Speaking to producer Teddy Riley following the Beenie Man and Bounty Killer clash last (Saturday) night, Swizz said: “We got Trinidad and Tobago, it gonna be big, big, big, big.”

He was responding to Riley who said he hoped to see Trinidad and Tobago featured on Verzuz and that he recorded Black Street’s No Diggity Album in the twin-island at Caribbean Sound Basin.

Riley was in T&T for Carnival 2020 as a guest act for Machel Montano’s Machel Monday and was also among the guests at the soca star’s private wedding reception.

Last (Saturday) night’s Verzuz battle was the first to feature Caribbean artistes and saw over 470,000 people logged on Verzuz TV’s Instagram page to witness it.

Swizz said the clash made him emotional.

He said: “Jamaica which has been thought of as a third world country proved to be a leader in the world tonight with 500,000 views. I cried.”
