Taiwan donates PCR machines, masks and thermometers to SVG

The Republic of China (Taiwan) on Wednesday (June 17) handed over 2 PCR machines with test kits, 200,000 surgical masks and 450 infrared forehead thermometers to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment (MOHWE).

The medical supplies were handed over by Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to Hon. Luke Browne, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment.

Health Minister Browne informed via Facebook that SVG is also set to receive pharmaceutical supplies and protective gear from India.

The MOHWE previously announced that in-country testing for COVID-19 should begin soon, as technicians have received training from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

COVID-19 testing for SVG is currently being conducted that the Caribbean Public Health Agency’s (CARPHA) lab in Trinidad and Tobago.

According to Minister Browne, SVG currently has enough reagents and supplies to carry out over 8,000 PCR tests for COVID-19.
