Bramble says toll proposal was a bad idea

Dwight Fitzgerald “Fitz” Bramble, the New Democratic Party’s (NDP) Candidate for East Kingstown has put to rest his proposal for a toll at Sion Hill, for motorists entering/exiting Kingstown, which he made on August 26, 2020 in an interview with Asbert News Network (ANN).

Bramble had suggested implementing a $1 toll every time a vehicle traverses Sion Hill, noting that it can address traffic congestion and pollution.

This idea however was not well received by Vincentians and so, was met with backlash.

Bramble has since withdrawn this proposal, deciding that it was a bad idea.

Speaking on the WakeUpCall with Tha Fugitive and Christal this morning (Sept. 17), Bramble said:

“The fact of the matter is that the toll idea was a bad idea at this time… plain and simple.”

Asked if he is going to forget about it, Bramble said, “of course. It’s totally forgotten.”

He went on to say: “I’ll tell you why… I listen to people and I listen to people very well and as a potential representative and as a leader, if you can’t listen to people and take into consideration their concerns, then you’re doomed to fail.”

“I am a thinker. And as a thinker, sometimes you gonna get it right, sometimes you wouldn’t get it right,” Bramble stated.

He continued, “the level of pain and economic hardship that the people in the country feeling right now, ain’t nobody want to pay a toll and them kind of things. It was just something that I did not think out properly.”

“I am man enough to accept it,” Bramble proclaimed.
