1,047 students in St. Vincent and the Grenadines who successfully completed this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Exam (CAPE) and Associate Degree programmes, will be receive $500, an annual incentive awarded by the government of SVG.
This was announced by Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves during his address to the nation at the Independence Military Parade on Tuesday (Oct. 27).
“630 at CSEC, 210 at CAPE and 207 at the Associate Degree level have achieved to required standard to be paid the $500 initiative which our government introduced many years ago,” PM Gonsalves declared.
He further informed that there is a group of 53 students currently awaiting reviews of their examination results who may become eligible to receive this annual incentive payment.
The cost of this package, Gonsalves informed is approximately $550,000.
Further, 58 national scholarships, national exhibitions and bursaries will be awarded to students, arising from the recent CAPE and Associate degree examinations.

PM Gonsalves shared that this is the highest number of scholarships to be awarded, exceeding last year’s 50.
