SVG: All Public Servants and persons visiting gov’t offices required to wear face masks

  • by
New COVID-19 protocols have been enforced for the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Public Service.
The Cabinet Secretary of SVG, based on the recommendation of the Chief Medical Officer, has directed that, with effect from Monday, 4th January, 2021, all employees of the State are required to wear appropriate masks or facial coverings while they are at work.
A memorandum issued on December 31, 2020, strongly advised public officers also to wear masks while in public, including on public transportation, and in situations where social/safe distancing is not possible.
Persons visiting government offices must also wear masks or facial coverings. The mask must be worn properly so that it covers the individual’s nose and mouth and must remain in place for the entire duration of the customer’s visit.
All protocols previously recommended are to be strictly observed, including the following:
– Proper sanitizing of hands upon entry
– Physical/safe distancing by maintaining, where possible, a distance of at least three (3) to six (6) feet from others
– Avoiding unnecessary physical contact with others
Officers who are experiencing flu-like symptoms are asked to remain at home. Similarly, customers are to be advised not to visit government offices if they are experiencing symptoms of this nature. Individuals who suspect that they may have been exposed to COVID-19 are to contact the COVID-19 hotline (784) 534-4325 for advice and guidance and to refrain from visiting any medical facility unless so directed by the health authorities.
