Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper the seven times Soca Monarch of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is now moving beyond the limitations of the local shows in which he first made his name. His deep-seated love of Soca and Ragga Soca shines strongly through as well as his passion for songwriting.
He has truly established himself as a true ambassador for SVG in the Soca arena.
A number of years he has been in the winner’s circle in the SVG Soca Monarch competition, Fireman is the only artiste to win that title seven (7) times. Fireman first won the soca Monarch competition in 1999 with ‘Firewood’ and again in 2000 with ‘Anaconda’ and in 2001 with ‘Spiritual’. He again took the crown in 2005 with ‘Madder than You’, 2006 with ‘Wukie Wukie’ and 2007 with ‘Charge’ and Finally 2011 with Animal. In 2010 he made his debut into the Ragga Soca competition and won with the song “Holy Fire”.
He has performed throughout the Caribbean, USA, Germany and UK.
Fireman started his Soca career with local group- the Roses Crew when he won his first crown, he then went solo after a few of years under the management of Island Network Inc. and is now a member of the LIME Soca Dans a group of some of SVG’s top artistes.
In 2012 Fireman Hooper the reigning Soca Monarch represented SVG with the song “ Animal” at the international Soca Monarch in Trinidad and Tobago .
